A band that spent a decade in the making, The Aftershakes first unleashed their sound on the DMV music scene in 2019. Charlie Maybee and Zach Fletcher first became friends in high school and developed a strong bond through music. After years of performing together in various music projects, Charlie conceptualized a more raucous outfit inspired by the punch and grit of Zach’s vocals. With the addition of Charlie’s longtime friends, Anthony Inglimo on drums and Massimo Zaru-Roque on bass, the band found an electric and intoxicating drive as they began writing original songs.

 

While The Aftershakes are most conveniently categorized as an alternative rock band, their music brings together a mix of punk, metal, blues, and grunge influences to create versatile and high-octane sound. With Charlie helming the songwriting process, the band’s the compositions and lyrics are often inspired by speculative storytelling, socio-political commentary, and critical theory. It’s a sound that promises to shake listeners to their core.
